X:link enables a seamless connection for your Xone mixer & K:series controller(s), to a computer, with the use of a singular USB connection.
X:link is a unique A&H MIDI control and POE protocol, and should only be used with other Xone X:link-enabled devices. Connecting this protocol to any third-party device may damage your hardware.
To set up an X:link daisy chain for control. Ensure that you run from the furthest device ‘Out’ socket to the nearest device’s ‘In’ socket, then back ‘out’ to the X:link of the mixer.
When setting up the software for MIDI control the software must be pointing to the host device, in this example, it will be the mixer. It is also important that each device is set to its own unique MIDI channel. Information on setting the device(s) MIDI channel can be found in the respective product user guide.
Finally, specific to Xone:96. There are MIDI enable switches on the top panel. These need to be on (active) for X:link MIDI data to pass. This is shown in the diagram above. More info on the switching and what MIDI transmission it affects can be found via the link to the article below.
