FAQ:
Does the antenna need to be up or flat during operation?
Regular practice is to have RF antennas placed vertically. However, as Radio Waves propagate both vertically and horizontally alternative antenna positions can be tested for better performance.
A different position of the antenna can vary the strength and performance of the WiFi signal depending on reflections; You may try different positions to find what works best depending on the environment.
What is the difference between 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz?
2.4GHz Due to the longer wavelength, 2.4GHz has a longer range and coverage area. This band is prone to more WiFi congestion, due to each 20MHz channel overlapping with the adjacent channel and a higher number of devices that use this band.
5GHz Offers a shorter range and can require line of sight. This band is less prone to WiFi congestion due to its channels not overlapping and less devices using this band.
One is not better than the other, it simply depends on the environment where you are currently operating and the other wireless devices that can be found on the surroundings, so it is recommended to either test both or run a WiFi scan to know the Wireless environment.
More devices can arrive in the area in the time since first connection. You may wish to switch frequencies later if you have connection issues to see if the connection improves.
