Dante Via is an Audinate software for routing computer-based audio into Dante networks.
The following are some application examples relating to Allen & Heath digital mixers.
Integrating a Qu mixer into a Dante network
The Qu USB audio interface is recognised by Dante Via. Click on 'Enable Dante' in the Dante Via software to make it available in Dante Controller and patch audio to any other Dante-enabled device.
FoH/Mon 32ch split between Qu and other Dante-enabled digital mixers
Enable Dante on the Qu USB interface and patch up to 32 channels from the Dante-enabled digital mixer to the Qu mixer, or vice-versa.
Routing PAFL audio to the computer’s headphones when mixing with SQ MixPad or dLive Director
If your Dante card, mixing system, and laptop are set to compatible IP addresses, you can bridge the Dante Control Network port to the SQ or dLive control Network. This gives you control of the mixer and of the Dante network at the same time. On the mixer, patch PAFL to a Dante I/O Port output. In Dante Via, enable Dante on your laptop headphones output (Built-in Output). In Dante Controller, patch the relevant Dante channels to the computer audio.
Q: Can I use the same laptop for Dante Via and USB recording from a Qu mixer?
A: Yes, audio from the mixer can be simultaneously recorded to a DAW and sent to a Dante device using Via.
Q: Can I use the Dante Virtual Soundcard and Dante Via at the same time?
A: The DVS and Dante Via can coexist on the same Dante network, but cannot run simultaneously on the same computer.
Q: How much latency will Dante Via introduce?
A: Dante Via will add 10ms of latency. Note that this is not the total system latency. For example:
Any audio to/from Dante-enabled device will add some transport latency (typically 1ms).
Audio to your computer Built-in Output will add WDM/Core Audio and DAC latency.
Audio to/from USB peripherals will add ASIO/Core Audio and buffer latency (typically several ms).
As an example, a 32ch split from dLive to a Qu-32 introduces roughly 20ms of system latency. That is, the inputs on the Qu-32 would be 20ms delayed compared to the inputs on the dLive.
