Q.
What is the footswitch socket for on the WZ12:2DX rear panel? Can I use this to turn the internal effects unit on and off?
A.
The footswitch socket is not described in early versions of the user manual because it was a last-minute addition to the mixer after the manual was completed.
Yes, it can be used to operate the internal effects unit.
A momentary-action footswitch that shorts sleeve to the tip of jack will duplicate the ‘Sel’ switch.
A momentary-action footswitch that shorts sleeve to the ring of jack will duplicate the ‘Bank’ switch.
A momentary-action dual-pole footswitch that shorts sleeve to the tip of jack through one pole and (separately through the other pole) sleeve to the ring of jack acts as an ‘effects mute’ toggle switch.
If a single-pole switch is used, it will not work correctly. It is possible to solder two or three footswitches to one jack plug to replicate all three functions.
All signals coming back through ST1 (including internal effects and any external signals connected to the ST1 inputs) can be muted by deselecting the ST1 On switch.
