Q:
I'm trying to set up the desk as a MIDI controller.
I have followed the instructions to the letter, using the Tascam emulation mode "u2400".
The faders on the desk, when moved, do not make any movement with the software.
When opening the controller assignments within Logic, I can see the desk is set up as a zone and when touching a fader the corresponding fader number/bank highlights.
This indicates to me that it detects which fader is being selected, it just seems it doesn't translate this across the software mixer for some reason.
A:
First thing, there are 3 components that need to be updated:
Midi Firmware (this is found on the GS-R24 software page)
FireWire Firmware (this is found on the GS-R24 FireWire Interface software page)
FireWire Drivers (this is found on the GS-R24 FireWire Interface software page)
Please ensure these are up to date for your OS
Test MIDI with another DAW - this will rule out the problem being with Logic setup or rule the DAW out of the equation completely and use MIDI-OX or MIDI Monitor.
Ensure that the Midi Read and Write buttons are pressed down.
Please see p.30 of the User Guide for more information.
Power-up configurations. - see p.35 of the User Guide for more information
Hold down the PLAY button during power-up
The 'solo/select' button will indicate which mode the desk is in.
Select desired Mode.
Press the STOP button to exit
SEL switch 8 is the test mode that will help confirm if there are issues with the motorised faders.
When in this mode, moving the rotary jog wheel controller will move the faders through the test sequence.
Mode 7 is the US 2400 Emulation.
