Yes, you can play and record to the same USB flash drive simultaneously.

Note: Although there are 2 USB slots on the GLD only the first USB drive to be connected will be recognised. 
Plugging a second USB memory stick into the second USB slot will not have any effect.
You cannot play from one USB Key and record to another.
