If the short end is connected to a desk or rack while cable is unwound (or wound up) the short end will be twisted.
This can cause damage to the cable, resulting in intermittent signal or loss of signal.
To avoid damaging cable – ensure that the short end is secured around the cable holder on the outside of the reel.
This will ensure that when the cable is unwound (or wound up), the short, inner end will rotate with the rest of the reel and the cable will not be stressed.
Following this method will prolong cable life and help to avoid intermittent faults, QoS errors etc.
