Dante Flows
Posted by Ben Morgan, Last modified by Ben Morgan on 24 August 2020 03:11 PM

Dante transmits audio in "flows" with each flow typically consisting of several channels of audio. The maximum number of flows, and audio channels per flow, is device dependent.

SQ Dante / Dante64 / Dante128
 - Up to 16 channels per multicast flow
 - 4 channels per unicast flow
 - Up to 128 flows
 - Maximum of 2048 transmitted channels*

DT168 / DT164
 - Up to 8 channels per multicast flow
 - 4 channels per unicast flow
 - Up to 16 flows
 - Maximum of 128 transmitted channels*

M-DANTE
 - Up to 8 channels per multicast flow
 - 4 channels per unicast flow
 - Up to 32 flows
 - Maximum of 256 transmitted channels*

* Network conditions (e.g. infrastructure, available bandwidth, other network traffic) can affect performance when working with a large number of multicast flows with high channel counts. These numbers should be considered a theoretical maximum on a fully optimised network.
