How to use an Insert Point as a Direct Out

It is possible to use an Insert Point on a channel as a Direct Output without modifying the desk.

To do this you need to modify a standard "balanced"/"stereo" (i.e. 2 conductor) cable that terminates into a 1/4" TRS jack at each end.

On the mixer end of the cable you would solder connect the Tip and Ring within the 1/4" housing.
On the recorder end of the cable you would solder connect the Ring and Sleeve within the 1/4" housing.

If you are using an XLR on the recorder end then you would repeat the instructions:

 Insert to Direct Out (XLR)

You can now use any Channel Insert Point as a Direct Out.
